Born and raised in Montreal, John began playing golf at the age of five years old competing in tournaments at the age of eleven and won the Quebec Junior Championship by the age of seventeen. John is a 35 year veteran in the golf industry attended the University of New Orleans and a graduate of the San Diego Golf academy. He has worked as an assistant professional at Kanawaki from 1988 to 1990, Head Professional at the Saint Jean Golf Club from 1991-2001 returning to Kanawaki in 2002 as Head Professional until 2020.
John has served on the Quebec PGA Board for 15 years and more recently serving as President from 2005 to 2009.
John was named 2007 Club Professional of the year.
He is a certified Callaway club fitter.
John was also involved in the making of the Disney Production of “The Greatest Game ever played” shot at Kanawaki. He was the personal coach to “Shia Labeouf” and worked as Golf Coordinator along side Director “Bill Paxton”, and finally played a small role in the film as “Albert Murray” former Head Professional of Kanawaki.
John was recently inducted into the Callaway Golf Hall of fame and promoted to Master Staff Professional.
John Murray published a book on the “1929 Canadian Open “ in 2014.
John is now happily retired from both the profession and the sport of golf and wishes to thank the many people he has met and worked with during his wonderful and memorable career.
