Stepping onto the Ladies Golf Club of Toronto, I’m struck by a feeling that I’ve arrived at a sanctuary. Not only is the gorgeous layout in Markham a refuge from the bustling city about 30 minutes south, but it's a home away from the noise faced by women who love the game. My friend Julie and I have been invited to play by head pro Jaime Steedman and the PGA of Canada has encouraged me to share my reflections.
It was announced on Wednesday that the PGA of Canada is officially 'Great Place to Work' Certified.
The team comprised of PGA of Canada professional Devon Schade and amateurs Ethan Hunter, Kayle Tosh, William Middleton and Tanner Chamberlin, who originally qualified from Larters at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club Manitoba, were dominant the past three days at Cabot Cape Breton, firing net -64.1 (gross rounds of 58-55-56) to win by 4.1 strokes over the team from Niagara National Golf Club at the RBC PGA Scramble National Final.
The second round of the RBC PGA Scramble National Final at Cabot Cape Breton never fails to disappoint. In the championship’s 9th edition, Monday, as it always does, lived up to the hype.
Anybody that has had the opportunity to play in the RBC PGA Scramble National Final knows that just getting to Cabot Cape Breton is the biggest prize of them all – winning would be the cherry on top. That sense was evident when Wanda Brown was brought to tears after her team’s round on Sunday when asked about their experience thus far.

The PGA of Canada Women’s Cup team comprised of Emma de Groot, Caroline Ciot, Katy Rutherford, Casey Ward and Christine Wong put up a valiant effort at the 2024 PGA Women’s Cup, placing second out of six teams at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon.

It is with profound sadness to have learned of the passing of Jim Collins, the beloved golf professional at St. Charles Country Club for 37 remarkable years. Jim passed away the evening of September 10th, at the age of 86 years.

Competing just minutes away from his home this week, Maxwell Cohen took advantage of being the first group on the course Friday morning, picking up where he left off after yesterday’s 65 with a 7-birdie 66 to take a one-stroke lead into the final round of the PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf at The Redwoods Golf Club.
