A Memorable Day at the Ping Pro Junior Tournament

Seventeen PGA of Manitoba professionals and fifty-one juniors came together yesterday for a day filled with mentorship, learning, competition, and fun at the Ping Pro Junior Tournament, hosted at The Players Course.

The event kicked off with a one-hour clinic facilitated by our dedicated Assistants’ Board members. Each team worked through both full swing and putting drills with their professional before heading out for a 9-hole team scramble.

Team Southwood, led by professional Ashton Romaniuk, and Team Pine Ridge, with professional Hayden Chaloner, tied for the low round of 27, with Southwood winning on countback. Team Elmhurst, led by Ryan McMillan, claimed third with a score of 30. The top three teams were awarded Ping Putters, Ping Traverse Bags, and Ping Hoofer Bags, respectively.

Adding to the excitement, three teams were drawn at random to receive the same premium prizing as the winners. All other teams chose from a selection of Ping merchandise, including hats, towels, and accessories. The fun didn’t stop there—each hole featured an activity, with seven additional prizes awarded.

We are so grateful to everyone who made this day possible:

  • Assistants’ Board Members: Jeremy Gallant, Brendan Baldwin, Ben Dalke, Bret Thompson, Ian Penner, and Nathan Liewicki for organizing the event and leading the clinic.

  • Ping Canada and territory representative Bryan Read for their unwavering support and generosity.

  • The Players Course and host professional Rob Damsgaard and team for their hospitality and attention to every detail.

  • Tim Hortons, our breakfast sponsor, for providing muffins for all participants.

  • Jeremy Gallant, our Hole Sponsor and Chair of the Assistants’ Board, for both his leadership and financial support.

  • D’Arcy Lachance, Tournament Chair, for his on-site assistance and donation of two dozen Pro V1s, including a special prize for the junior with the most Ping clubs in their bag.

  • Brendan Baldwin, Tournament Director for the PGA Tour Americas Manitoba Open, and the Tour’s management team, for their donation of two Junior Team Experiences during Manitoba Open week. Two lucky teams from yesterday's event will now get to participate in a 9-hole Pro-Am with a PGA Tour Americas professional—and receive full-week passes to the Manitoba Open at Breezy Bend.

And most importantly, to all participating clubs and professionals—thank you for your commitment to growing the game and creating a fun, memorable day for your junior players.

Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and contributed to making this such a special event!
