Goodwin & Wiegner Go Low to Take Cobra Puma Pro Pro Title
Record Score, Fire Alarms & Fun at 2025 Cobra Puma Pro Pro at Hecla
Another amazing escape to Lakeview Hecla Resort for a Sunday Skins game and the Cobra Puma Pro Pro event has officially wrapped up — and what an unforgettable day and a half it was!
The whirlwind getaway for participating professionals included:
- A Sunday Skins pot of just over $1,700
- A power outage during the late evening dinner service that lasted until 3:30 a.m.
- Multiple false fire alarms throughout the night
- A Monday hole-in-one
- And a record-setting winning score of 13-under 59 in the Pro Pro event!
Despite the unexpected interruptions caused by stormy weather, the event was filled with great times, endless laughs, and countless stories that will be retold for years to come — all part of the magic that makes this annual tradition such a standout on the PGA of Manitoba calendar.
Goodwin & Wiegner Go Low to Take the Title
The duo of Derrik Goodwin and Jonathan Wiegner (Glendale Golf & Country Club) stole the show with an electrifying 13-under 59 in the two person scramble format, cruising to victory and collecting the $1,600 top prize. The pair ignited their round with an unforgettable start — birdie, birdie, hole-in-one (Goodwin on the 210-yard 3rd), followed by an eagle chip-in from Wiegner on the par-5 4th. The momentum never stopped as they set a new benchmark for scoring in the Pro Pro event.
Coming in second at 9-under 63 were Dave McMillan and Ryan McMillan of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club, earning $1,300 for their strong performance.
Three teams tied for third at 8-under 64 (winning $733.50 per team / $366.75 each):
- Chris Mead & Colwyn Abgrall (Glendale G & CC / GOLFTEC Winnipeg)
- Jack Einarson & Josh Oberik (Lakeview Hecla Resort / Lakeland Golf Management)
- Glen Mills & Walter Keating (Assiniboine GC / Whitewater GC)
Rounding out the winnings were:
- 6th: Cory Kartusch & Brian Guenther (St. Charles CC / Steinbach Fly-In GC), -7 (65), $350.00 / $175 each
- T7: Jeremy Gallant & Bret Thompson, Ben Dalke & Shayne St. Denis, and Bri-ann Tokariwski & Shannon Wales, all tied at -6 (66) and receiving $83.50 per team / $41.75 each.
