Schade & Tokariwski Lead After Opening Round of Callaway PGA of Manitoba Zone Championship

Winnipeg, MB – The opening round of the Callaway PGA of Manitoba Zone Championship & Women's Championship is complete at Southwood Golf & Country Club, with Devon Schade setting the pace after an impressive 6-under-par 66.

Schade, Head Professional at Larters at St. Andrews, carded 7 birdies on day one, to take a two-shot lead heading into Monday’s final round. Only two strokes back are Colwyn Abgrall (GOLFTEC) and Austin Dobrescu (EVO Golf), who each posted 4-under 68s to sit tied for second.

A tightly packed leaderboard follows, with Geoff Kehler (Larters), Jeremy Gallant (St. Charles), and Ryan McMillan (Elmhurst) all tied for fourth at 2-under 70. Three players—Derrik Goodwin (Glendale), Joel Rhodes (GOLFTEC), and Jason Duncan (NIakwa) —are tied at even par to round out the top 10.

In a historic development for the Zone, this year’s championship will also crown a Women’s Champion for the first time since 2008. With both Bri-ann Tokariwski (Elmhurst) and Shannon Wales (Glendale) in the field, it marks the first time in 17 years that more than one woman has competed in the event—a requirement for the trophy to be awarded. Tokariwski currently holds the lead in the women's division after Sunday's round.

Tee times for the final round begin Monday afternoon as players vie for the 2025 Zone Championship titles.
