About

Keith Wilesmith currently works at Chester Golf Club undertaking the role of Outside Services. He provides teaching lessons, as well as volunteers his time to Special Olympics Golf Nova Scotia.

Prior to joining Chester Golf Club, Keith worked at American Golf, based in London, England, where he worked in the pro shop and was learning the business of golf.

He has a strong business background prior to entering the field of golf – his earliest business experiences saw him setting up and developing two transportation and shipping companies in Southern Africa. This involved government liaison, developing strong global business relationships and a strong understanding of the fundamentals of business. This stood him in good stead when moving to London and undertaking a similar role for an International transportation company in the UK. After these experiences, Keith used his love of sports to manage an American sporting goods business in central London. He then set up and ran his own construction business, undertaking projects large and small. It was his love of sport that brought him to golf as a career.

Keith’s sporting experiences have been numerous. He played for his province in South Africa in sports such as Tennis, Rugby, Cricket, Baseball. He captained numerous teams and was always interested in learning new skills. On moving to London, he played Baseball to the highest level in the country. He played for two of the highest level clubs in the UK, and also set up and developed another club during this time, to help promote baseball at the grass roots. After the baseball scene quietened down in the UK, he moved on to play Rugby and Cricket, before finding himself learning and loving golf. This passion for the game of golf led him to change both his working and personal life, by moving into golf as a profession, and moving to Canada to realise his dreams of working closely with the golfing and local community to develop golfers of all ages and abilities.
